Frequently Asked Questions...

WHAT IS LCA, AND WHY DOES IT EXIST?

Founded in 1973, LCA is the oldest evangelical Christian school in the Lehigh Valley. It was founded in order to provide a thorough, complete, and consistently Christian education for the area’s Christian families. Over 200 students from around 60 churches attend classes in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.

WHO GOVERNS LEHIGH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY?

Three evangelical churches jointly operate and govern Lehigh Christian Academy. Representatives of each church form the Board of Directors, which sets policy, makes corporate commitments, and conducts hiring and firing.

The administration is the appointed executive and delegate of the Board. Administration establishes procedures and carries Board policy into effect.

Other districts may also be eligible.

DO OLDER STUDENTS HAVE EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?

Yes. For example, students in grades seven and eight may participate in yearbook. They may also be eligible to be named to the National Junior Honor Society. Students in grades five through eight may compete in the ACSI Spelling Bee. Students in grades four through eight may participate in band and chorus.

LCA students are able to participate in an organized sports program. Students in grades six through eight can participate in cheerleading, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track. As members of a local Christian league, our students compete in regularly scheduled games and tournaments.

IS LCA ACCREDITED?

Yes. We are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We are pleased that we were the first Christian school to gain this honor and also the first elementary school of any sort to receive this accreditation in Lehigh County. Our program has been reviewed by both a Christian organization and a general education association.

ARE THE TEACHERS AT LCA CERTIFIED?

While private schools are not required by state law to hire certified teachers, all class-room teachers at LCA hold teaching certificates with the Association of Christian Schools International. In the areas of art, music, and physical education, we strive to hire teachers who hold certification in the appropriate areas. Occasionally, however, a specialty teacher will be hired who has expertise in a particular area while not necessarily possessing a teaching certificate from the state of Pennsylvania.

HOW MUCH DOES AN EDUCATION COST AT LCA?

The tuition rates vary from year to year and also vary based on grade. Please see our current tuition schedule available under the Admissions tab.
